UB WESTVIC PERFORM WELL IN NATIONAL UNDER 13 SERIES |

UB WestVic Badminton athletes have surprised everyone with a 3rd placing in the recent Under 13 Interstate Badminton Series in Altona, in January. The event was held over 2 days, with the first day for the 2 Team Events (Interstate Challenge and Regional Challenge) and the 2nd day for the Under 13 Individual Tournament. UB WestVic Athletes Stephen Weightman, Alice Lorincz, Keely McGibbon and Tylah Bruhn were joined by 2 players from Tasmania for the Under 13 Team Event, finishing 3rd in a very closely fought Regional Teams Challenge. The UB WestVic team defeated teams from Western Suburbs and Bendigo Academy, before losing by 1 point to the eventual winners, Badminton Academy of Victoria in it’s pool. The UB WestVic players went on to win the play off for 3rd and 4th by defeating NSW Dash 7 matches to 5. |

| Another UB WestVic Academy member, Mitchell Gervasoni, was a member of the Victorian Team who competed in the Interstate Teams Challenge, with the Vics losing the final to NSW. Gervasoni dominated the Individual event by winning the Boys Doubles and reaching the semi finals in the Singles. In another win for the UB WestVic Academy Athletes, Stephen Weightman was awarded the Sportsmanship Trophy exhibiting the highest standards of sportsmanship, personality, court demeanor, player ability, determination and appearance. |
